He "gave" a subsidy of R5.8 Billion which he found "lying around in the Fiscus Vaults" to help reduce the fees.IT IS OUR MONEY TO START WITH. YOU HAVE GIVEN US NOTHING BUT HAVE TAKEN AWAY!!! Now they are wielding the big stick and forcing it on us. NOT ACCEPTABLE, MR. Gordhan. They also exempt taxis and public transport. This is purely a political move to get voters on their side. This is discrimination in its purest form. The commuters are not so stupid as not to see through this ruse. They also have cars and friends who are affected.
They also pay fuel levies and tolls in all its forms directly or indirectly which further raises the prices of goods they have to buy and thus their living expenses. Furthermore, in their quest to extract the toll from us, they now wish to pass an amendment to the act governing debt collection. Currently, apparently for non-payment, blacklisting is not available to them and traffic fines cannot be collected via a garnishee order. This, they now want to change, so that the big stick can used. It is very important to remember that once the toll road is paid for they do not ever stop the toll. They continue extracting escalating fees for the rest of your life and then your children's children etc. etc.
They keep on milking forever! Everyone MUST try and get it into the Governments head that we expect the existing fuel levy to be used for road building, NOT tolls and not for ANYTHING else. SANRAL can issue Road Bonds to finance anything more than what the fuel levy brings in. Is this all too simple for the Gov. to understand or want to understand? Gov. wants to create jobs. Then re-establish a Roads Dept. and do it. We do not need finance parasites to keep feeding off the public and making their fortunes. We do not need the likes of a SANRAL to serve us with their skewed ideas. Get rid of them and appoint people who have the proper interests of the people at heart.
We expect that the tolling will become a major problem for Gov. as it will or we hope it will unite all opposing parties from the different political spectrum as well as trades unions, business, industry, agriculture etc. May the voters now prevail. If everyone has the guts to oppose, actively and vociferously, this madness of bureaucrats who are determined to impose their idiotic policies on the public just so that they can prove that they are all powerful and stuff the public who they "work" for and are PAID by.
Calculate how much we will have to pay for food, floor commodities, services, etc if they impose this mob-style taxation on us. Furthermore does the price of petrol and all related items soar by the month- with these inhuman financial cannibals still working on their bogus "Carbon Taxation" to pummel the poor road users as well. Take in consideration these oversize government leeches earn fat salaries, get transport for free, drive the most expensive cars, get groceries for free, housing for free, travel allowances for free- and their kids go to the most expensive private schools. They do not even PAY for their own "E-Toll" scam when they drive on the roads- WE do...through our taxes! This all happens with the "Fat-Cat" small con-artist clique who impose these draconian "perks" on us- while we suffer everyday to protect our kids from going to bed hungry.
CONTINUE THE BOYCOTT. REFUSE TO BUY THEIR SLICK E-TAGS. THESE HIGHWAYS ARE PUBLIC ASSETS- ALREADY PAID FOR. WE DID NOT SAY SANRAL HAD TO TAKE EXUBERANT LOANS TO START THEIR 'GET QUICK-RICH" SCHEMES- AND THEN WANT TO PUMMEL THE PUBLIC INTO SUBMISSION THROUGH THEIR GOVERNMENT BUDDIES!

Planne vir e-tol buite Gauteng geskrap

Cosatu se protesoptrede, waaraan meer as 200 000 mense Woensdag deelgeneem het, het gehelp sorg dat planne vir soortgelyke tolpaaie geskrap word, het ’n senior regeringsamptenaar aan Rapport se susterkoerant, City Press, gesê.
Motoriste op Gauteng se e-tolpaaie sal van 1 April af 30c/km moet opdok, hoewel die inwerkingstelling van die stelsel nog deur die volgende faktore gekortwiek kan word:
* Die regering moet nog wetgewing in die Staatskoerant publiseer oor siviele en strafregtelike optrede teen padgebruikers wat nie betaal nie;
* Die verlaagde tariewe moet in die Staatskoerant gepubliseer word;
* Dreigende regsoptrede deur die land se groot motorverhuringsondernemings; en
* Skeptiese padgebruikers wat nog nie op groot skaal elektroniese skyfies (e-tags) gekoop het nie.
Mnr. S’bu Ndebele, minister van vervoer, het vroeër gesê planne om e-tolpaaie in Kaapstad en KwaZulu-Natal in te stel, moet eers deeglik oorweeg word.
Dit blyk nou dié twee e-tolprojekte, asook die tweede fase van padverbeterings in Gauteng, sal nie die groen lig kry nie, is aan City Press gesê. Die Suid-Afrikaanse Nasionale Padagentskap (Sanral) het deurlopend aangevoer e-tolstelsels sal oor die volgende paar jaar landwyd uitgebrei word.
Sanral het onder meer e-tolstelsels op 175 km van die N1- en N2-snelweg na Kaapstad beplan, maar skerp teenkanting van die DA-geleide stads- en provinsiale regering het gehelp om die planne te kelder.
Die enigste nuwe tolpadprojek wat voorlopig voortgaan is in die Oos-Kaap op die N2-snelweg langs die Wildekus. Net twee tolhekke word beplan – aan die begin en einde van die roete – om te keer dat inwoners hier aan tolgeld onderwerp word.
Maar Gautengers kan blykbaar nie hoop op verdere verligting nadat die tolgeld vroeër verminder is nie.
“As ons die projek sou kanselleer, sit Sanral met skuld van R37 miljard wat ons binne weke uit die nasionale begroting sou moes kry. Ons sal maar net eenvoudig moet deurdruk.”
